The Patient Visit

PLEASE NOTE: IT’S EXTREMELY RARE BUT SOME PEOPLE MAY FEEL LIGHT HEADED WHEN THEIR FEET ARE MOLDED.

IF YOU FEEL LIGHT HEADED OR DIZZINESS, TELL THE PRACTITIONER AND THEY WILL ASSIST YOU DOWN.

The reasons could be:
  • Standing still for approximately 6 minutes.
  • Having something warm under your feet.
  • Being raised off the floor.
  • Having your posture corrected and standing differently.

IMPORTANT: Patient Pre-Treatment Briefing

PLEASE READ THESE NEXT INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
EXPLAINING THE MOLDING PROCESS
To take a “Corrective Weight-Bearing” mold on the VFAS we need your help. *This information will be explained again by the Practitioner, before FootAligner templates are heated and molded under your feet on the VFAS device.

You’ll be asked to carefully step up onto the VFAS with your Left Foot on the Left Foot Pad and your Right Foot resting behind your Left Ankle, using the hand rails for support. 2 PICTURES 1) THE PATIENT STEPPING UP ONTO VFAS  2) SHOWING THEIR RIGHT FOOT BEHIND THEIR LEFT ANKLE HOLDING HAND RAILS.

The Practitioner is going to take hold of your RIGHT foot and guide it where they want it to go, so please RELAX and let them guide your foot where they want it to be. Once your foot is in position you’ll be asked to rest your weight “EVENLY” on both feet, standing upright. THIS MIGHT NEED 3 PICTURES. 1) PRACTITIONER SITTING BEHIND, SHOWING THE RIGHT FOOT AND ANKLE BEING HELD 2) FOOT BEING HELD WITH PRACTITIONERS RIGHT HAND AROUND PATIENTS ANKLE AND LEFT HAND HOLDING THE FA IN POSITION, DIRECTLY ABOVE THE FA
3) FOOT WRAPPED IN ELASTIC WRAPS AND BEARING WEIGHT EVENLY ON BOTH FEET.

Pressure will be applied under your arch and you’ll be asked to gently roll your RIGHT foot and ankle as it’s guided into position. You’ll hold that position strong until the Practitioner tells you to relax your weight back down onto your arch and stand normally. 2 PICTURES
1) PRACTITIONERS LEFT HAND UNDER MLA CURVE AND RIGHT HAND AROUND THE ANKLE WITH AN ARROW SHOWING HOW THE FOOT IS ROLLING INTO POSITION. 2) FOOT STANDING ALIGNED

The same will happen to the LEFT foot.

You’ll rest your Left Foot behind your Right Ankle, using the hand rails for support.

It will feel like you’re standing on a slope, with a raise in the middle of your foot. You won’t know whether to put your weight in front of the raise, behind it, OR stand with your feet to the outside? Just stay with your weight in the middle, resting your weight, naturally on the arches. You may feel a small amount of pain from the force applied to your feet. This is normal, especially if you have sensitive feet or Plantar fasciitis.
If it becomes too much, they can adjust the correction or get you down. A PICTURE WITH ARROWS SHOWING HOW THE PERSONS WEIGHT SHOULD BE RESTING ON THEIR ARCHES.

IT WILL FEEL WEIRD! WEIRD IS OK, PAIN IS BAD.
FINISHING THE RIGHT AND LEFT TEMPLATES

After 4 minutes the Practitioner will take hold of the back of your RIGHT heel and guide your foot onto the balls of your toes. Just bend your knee forward so it sits directly above and in front of your knee, with weight on the balls of your feet, especially the big toe…Like taking a step forward but you’re not!
A cool spray will be applied and massaged into the Foot Aligner template and you’ll hold that position for 45 seconds. The template will be removed and your foot guided back onto the foam. 3 PICTURES 1) THE PRACTITIONER HOLDING THE RIGHT HEEL WITH THE RIGHT HAND AND LEFT THUMB ON THE DORSAL 1ST MET HEAD. ARROWS SHOWING THE HEEL LIFTING UP, ANKLE GOING FORWARD, KNEE BENT OVER THE FOOT AND WEIGHT GOING INTO THE 1ST MET HEAD.

The same thing will happen to the LEFT foot. SAME PICTURES FOR THE LEFT FOOT
GETTING DOWN
Wait for the Practitioner to help you step backwards, down onto the platform and off the VFAS. 2 PICTURES 1) SHOWING THE PRACTITIONER WITH ONE HAND ON THE PATIENTS BACK AND THE OTHER ON THEIR FOREARM WITH THE PATIENTS LEFT FOOT ON THE STEP 2) PATIENT STANDING BESIDE THE PRACTITIONER.

It might also be good to have a few pics of the finished product matched to the foots shape while the patient is sitting and another one with them standing aligned. This will make it easier for, both the practitioner and patient to understand the sequence of events from start to finish.
